This unique offering combines one of the Perth Mint's favourite annual coins combined with a monkey privy mark to celebrate the Chinese Lunar Year of the Monkey.
The Kookaburra has become one of the flagship coins for the Perth Mint over the years and it is easy to see why. The unique subject, the great quality and Australian character of these coins have catapulted them to the world stage.
The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words, "Elizabeth II Australia 2016 1 Dollar" and the artist's initials.
The reverse features an adult Kookaburra sitting on a fence post wrapped in barbed wire, with an open field with a solitary tree in the background. The design is surrounded by the words "Australian Kookaburra 1 oz 999 Silver 2016", the Perth mintmark as well as a stylized monkey privy celebrating the Year of the Monkey.
With a limited mintage of only 50000 worldwide they won't be available for long.
